This site has been covering Captiva since 2021. With dozens of visits spanning every season, we’ve built a working knowledge of the island that goes deeper than a single trip allows: the restaurants worth making a reservation for, the beaches that reward showing up at the right time of day, which excursions are worth booking, and the small logistical details that make the difference between a trip that works and one that doesn’t.
That experience covers the full range of what a Captiva trip looks like: dining on both Captiva and Sanibel, water excursions out of ‘Tween Waters Island Resort and South Seas Island Resort, shelling on Bowman’s Beach at low tide, accommodations across price points, and day trips to places like Cabbage Key and Cayo Costa that most first-timers don’t know to consider.
Since our first visit in 2016, we’ve been part of a long tradition of travelers who came to Captiva Island once and couldn’t stop returning. The island has a way of doing that.
