Alison Hagerup Beach Park is one of Captiva Island’s most popular beaches. Located at the end of Captiva Drive, this beach offers soft sand, frequent dolphin sightings and plenty of space to spread out and relax.
The beach is managed by the Captiva Erosion Prevention District, which named the beach after long-time employee Alison Hagerup who played a pivotal role in protecting the island from erosion during her career.
Amenities
Alison Hagerup Beach Park is a great place for sunset, fishing or sunbathing. Like all Captiva Island beaches, a saltwater fishing license is required when fishing from the beach. The beach is also a popular place for shelling. Just remember, it is illegal to collect live shells.
The parking lot includes three portable restrooms, which are often much closer than walking back to your vacation rental.
Alison Hagerup Beach Park boasts the island’s largest (and most expensive) beach parking lot. Parking at the beach is $25 for two hours or $40. When you park in this lot, your parking fees help protect Captiva Island from erosion.
Insider’s Tip: If the parking lot is full, don’t worry. In our experience, there’s often a quick turnover rate, except close to sunset.

Joey’s Hot Dog Boat, a pontoon offering grilled hot dogs, ice cream, chips, cold drinks and frozen candy bars, makes stops on the beach several days a week. Joey’s Hot Dog Boat is cash-only and will not be out when the water is choppy.
On the gulf side of the beach, you’re only a few minutes away from the Mucky Duck Captiva, where you can grab a beer, cocktail or quick snack on their patio.
