Located at Blind Pass – the channel that divides Captiva and Sanibel Islands – Turner Beach greets you as you cross onto Captiva. This is the southern most of the Captiva Island beaches.
Swimming is not advised near the channel due to a dangerous undercurrent. If you plan on swimming at Turner be sure to stay away from Blind Pass.
Amenities
There is a small parking lot, it is the most affordable of the island’s parking lots. Parking at Blind Pass costs $5 per hour. There are only a few spaces here, and if the lot is full, Blind Pass Beach on Sanibel, just across the bridge, has a larger lot. Portable toilets are at Turner Beach.
Blind pass is a popular place for fishing. Chances are you’ll see a few individuals fishing from the bridge when you visit Turner Beach. Like all Captiva Island beaches, a saltwater fishing license is required when fishing from the beach. The beach is also a popular place for shelling, especially the sandbar near Blind Pass. Just remember, it is illegal to collect live shells.
Nearby Dining
While Turner Beach may be far from Captiva Island’s shops and restaurants, a short walk across the bridge at Blind Pass will bring you to north Sanibel’s restaurants.
Sunset Grill is a popular restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Lazy Flamingo’s north Sanibel location is next door and offers lunch and dinner. The Mad Hatter Sanibel is a great dinner option, offering a gulf-front view and picture windows that make it the perfect sunset dining spot.
The Santiva General Store has a deli, snacks, cold drinks, tackle and beach gear. The store also is home to Molly Malone Seafood, which offers a few prepared seafood options that are perfect for a picnic on the beach.
