The most popular beach on Sanibel Island is the Sanibel Lighthouse Beach. The 45-acre park is the second largest public park on the island and is one of historic significance, due to the Sanibel Island Lighthouse. Given its size, ample parking and location, its popularity isn't a surprise.

Thanks to the Captiva Erosion Prevention District, our favorite vacation destination will be getting a facelift before peak season rolls around. Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, marks the beginning of the Captiva Island beach restoration project which will restore the island's beaches and dune systems.

In April 2021, we made our first trip to the island since starting this blog. We knew that there would be changes to the island in the 14 months since we last visited. The Island Store reopened, Boop’s by the Bubble Room is a new addition, and COVID precautions were inlace at all our favorite establishments. One thing we were not ready for, however, was the massive erosion on Captiva Island's beach.
