Captiva has a handful of restaurants on the island. While the island is small, there’s a wide enough variety to find something you’re looking for. And if it’s pizza you’re craving, you’re in luck; Captiva Island Pizza has you covered.
It’s one of our favorite places to eat on the island. Thanks to its wide-ranging menu of classic and unique pizzas, there’s something for everyone.
Insider Tip: If you can’t get through on the phone, stop in. The pizza’s are ready in 10-20 minutes and it is worth the wait.
Captiva Island Pizza: Expect the Unexpected
You might not expect a tiny island with an even tinier pizza joint to be known for its pizza. Well, expect the unexpected. Because it’s that good.
Our family’s favorite is the Cannonball Pizza, pictured to the right. It’s loaded with Italian sausage, meatballs, pepperoni and ham. We were hooked at first bite. Their New York style pizza is everything you could ever want in a pizza. Fresh ingredients are jam packed with flavor. And don’t even get me started on the cheese!
The cheese on the pizza is unlike anything we’ve ever had before, and it is why we come back multiple times each trip.
We had no idea this restaurant existed until our second trip to Captiva. If it weren’t for our five year old spotting the sign, we may never have known about it.
Hidden Gem
Captiva Island Pizza is on the second floor of an unassuming, three story building in the heart of the village (next to the Key Lime Bistro). You can dine-in but the restaurant only has a few booths so large groups may be a challenge to seat. We always order carry out so we can enjoy the pizza on our patio.
Don’t feel like leaving your rental? No problem. They offer free delivery on Friday’s and Saturday’s, 5-9 p.m.
We prefer Captiva Island Pizza on our first night in town. It’s usually a long travel day and by the time we’ve checked in and unpacked, we can’t wait to sink our teeth into a meal that makes us feel all the more at home on the island.
Captiva Island Pizza is a mandatory meal every time we visit Captiva. And if you try it, we’re certain it’ll be a new necessity for your family too.
Insider Tips
If you’re staying near the village, place your order right before sunset. Grab a drink at the Mucky Duck for sunset on the beach. On your way back to your place, stop and grab your pizza.
Or, grab a pizza to enjoy on the beach while you savor the sunset.
