If you want to add a little something to your sweet scoop, pick from a variety of toppings. They’ll even mix it in to create your own flavor; just ask for a Shackit.
They may specialize in custard but The Shack of Sanibel also features a long list of specialty treats, shakes and floats. Don’t miss their drool-worthy treat, the sand dollar. It’s a giant heap of frozen custard, sandwiched between two giant cookies.
And if you’re looking for a dairy-free treat, you’re in luck. They serve Shave Ice in a wide variety of flavors.
The Cherry on Top
What makes this place extra special is their amazing work after Hurricane Ian. Forced to close through November 2022, they opened their hearts to serve free meals to weary residents and workers repairing the island.
If one dessert isn’t enough, you can take home goodies including pints of ice cream, sand dollars and even cakes. But if you’re hungry for more than just desserts, they also serve hot dogs and chili dogs.
