Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) is not a large airport. Despite its smaller size, many major U.S. airlines and regional carriers provide service to RSW. If you’re heading to Captiva or Sanibel for the first time, you’re probably wondering which airlines Fly to Ft. Myers.
Chances are you if you are in New England and the Midwest, you can find an airline with nonstop service to get you there.

Airport Overview
In 2019, RSW served 10 million passengers, a record for the airport. By comparison, Orlando and Miami serve more than four times as many passengers annually. There are plenty of food options both before and after security for those needing to fuel up before their flight.
The airport is located 23 miles east of Sanibel Island. Getting to Captiva Island from RSW is easy, with options including rental cars and car service options. You can be on Sanibel in about 45 minutes once you’ve left the airport, with another 20 minutes or so to Captiva Island.
Insider Tip: On Saturdays during peak season, the line for coffee at the RSW Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts locations can rival the TSA security lines. So don’t count on grabbing a coffee before your flight if you are short on time. I learned this the hard way.
Baggage claim is located on street level and ticketing is located on the upper level. The airport is divided into three terminals: B, C and D.
RSW rental car service is located directly across the street from the airport terminal, which is welcomed news to anyone who’s ever had to take a cramped shuttle from the airport terminal to the car rental counter.
