What do you get when you place a mother-daughter team with a lifetime of hospitality experience and a passion for ice cream, on Sanibel Island? The answer is Sanibel’s Best Homemade Ice Cream.
Located near the Sanibel Island Lighthouse and the Sanibel Island Beach Park, this ice cream parlor and bakery is must-visit when checking out the eastern end of Sanibel Island.
Sanibel’s Best Homemade Ice Cream
All the ice cream here is homemade and given a whimsical name. There’s Pelican Poop, (vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles and marshmallow fluff), Ding Dong the Troll is Gone (pistachio Ice Cream with Chunky Peanut Butter) and Spotted Octopus (cookies and cream). At Sanibel’s Best Homemade Ice Cream, even vanilla ice cream isn’t just vanilla, it’s “Sanibel Snow.”
We came here without our kids in 2021 and felt a little guilty. But not guilty enough to stop us from enjoying this flavorful ice cream.
All their delicious and unique flavors are available in a bowl, cone or even a take-home pint or quart size container. Kick it up a notch and try one of their sundaes or treats featuring creamy, one-of-a-kind flavors.
Sanibel’s Best Bakery
Mom and dad, don’t worry. Even if ice cream isn’t your thing, the deli/patisserie/coffee shop attached has you covered. The drool-inducing chocolate peanut butter tart is high on our list for our next visit.
The bakery serves an impressive assortment of breakfast and savory pastries, cookies and quiche. For the caffeine addicts, grab a cup of tea or decadent Lavazza coffee.
There’s even sandwiches, custom chocolates and popcorn.
One thing not listed on the menu but ever present is the focus on customer service. You’ll feel like an honored guest from the moment you walk through the door at Sanibel’s Best Homemade Ice Cream.
