If you’re looking for the best breakfast on Sanibel Island, The Lighthouse Cafe is a fan favorite. It’s consistently touted as one of the best breakfasts on Sanibel Island. Famous as it is for breakfast, it also happens to be our favorite Sanibel Island lunch spot.

The Lighthouse Cafe Sanibel
The quaint and casual atmosphere lives up to its name. Not only is it near the Sanibel Island Lighthouse, the walls of the Lighthouse Cafe are covered with photos of charming lighthouses from around the world. We’re sad to say we’ve never stopped in for breakfast. But we will, and we’ll tell you all about it when we do!
One of the things we love about this place is how inconspicuous it is. We found it by chance. The first time we biked by the cafe, we didn’t even notice it. You can find it in the middle of a small shopping center, about a half mile west of the Sanibel Lighthouse Beach.
Our family stops here every time we go biking from Sanibel to Captiva. The Lighthouse Cafe is the perfect place tp fuel up on fantastic food during an island biking adventure.
Sanibel’s Best Breakfast
The restaurant’s unique breakfast menu includes whole wheat granola pancakes, seafood benedicts and strawberry preserves made in-house. Now I’m plain ashamed we haven’t stopped in for a morning meal!
Breakfast is served all day until close (3 p.m.). Even though you can order morning fare for lunch, a couple menu items initially caught our eye and stole our hearts.
Popular Lunch Spot
I always try new things at a restaurant but once I sunk my teeth into the grouper sandwich, I was hooked! I haven’t thought twice about ordering anything else. I’d be lying if I said I don’t look forward to it all year. People have approached our table so they can order the same thing.
My husband’s love affair for the blackened chicken sandwich is just as serious. There are two things you need to know about the mouthwatering blackened chicken sandwich at the Lighthouse Cafe: it’s amazing and no longer on the menu. Thankfully, you can still get it, just ask for the grilled chicken sandwich with the blackened seasoning (which is also used on their blackened grouper sandwich).
The chicken is always juicy and perfectly seasoned, thanks to the simple combination of a thin chicken breast and blackened seasoning. It’s heaven on a bun.
Don’t Miss Sanibel Favorite
The Lighthouse Cafe allows you to call ahead for seating, perfect for vacationers on a tight schedule. Trust us, get your name on the list early! It’s a popular spot so you could wait awhile if you don’t. Trust us, it is worth the wait. It’s also open for dinner but only in the winter.
