Grocery Delivery Sanibel Island
We started ordering our vacation groceries online in 2018, timing the delivery just after we arrive at our vacation rental home. We found this eliminates two headaches. The first is taking the time to shop, giving us an extra 45 minutes to an hour on the beach. The second is that shopping ahead eliminates the need to keep the groceries cold during transit and check-in.
We love ordering groceries for delivery as it gives us plenty of time on the beach to enjoy the warm Florida sun before sunset.
Bailey’s General Store
Bailey’s General Store has a deep history on Sanibel Island as far back as 1899. The primary Bailey’s Sanibel location (not to be confused with their satellite location at Sundial resort) is at the intersection of Periwinkle Way and Tarpon Bay Road.
The store is set back from Periwinkle Way, making it easy to miss. We highly recommend checking out this Sanibel institution if you have not already done so. Both delivery and pickup options are available.
Jerry’s Foods
Frequent SanCap visitors (and our Twin Cities readers) recognize this grocer. With a location at 1700 Periwinkle Way, the store is in the heart of Sanibel Island and seen by anyone driving to Captiva Island or the Ding Darling preserve. The store is connected to a shopping complex and returning visitors likely know it for the talking parrots in the garden plaza.
Through Jerry’s Foods, you can have groceries delivered or pick them up on your way to your final destination.
The Grog Shop
Both Jerry’s and Bailey’s have beer and wine selections, but they don’t sell liquor online. That’s where the Grog Shop comes in. Founded in 1972 by the Bailey family, the Grog Shop is the largest liquor store on the island.
It’s conveniently located next to Bailey’s General Store and offers an expanded assortment of beer, wine, and liquor. Online ordering is done via phone, but you can view their product lists online. The store is located near Bailey’s General Store at Tarpon Bay Road and Periwinkle Way.
Bottom Line
No matter how you do it, ordering your groceries ahead of time maximizes your vacation time. More importantly, when you shop local with these options for grocery delivery on Sanibel Island, you’re directly supporting Sanibel Island businesses.
