As the recovery from Hurricane Ian continues on Captiva Island, things will keep looking a bit different in 2024. Several improvements and changes have already come to the island since the devastating storm in 2022. Capturing Captiva is breaking down what’s new to Sanibel Island and Captiva Island in 2024.
A special thank you to the local contractors for your hard work during the past 15 months. The islands are looking better every day, thanks to these efforts!
Quench Your Thirst Island Style With Captiva Blonde Ale
Our friends at Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts have partnered with Riptide Brewing in Bonita Springs on a new signature beer: Captiva Blonde Ale.
Available exclusively at their properties, including ‘Tween Waters Island Resort , this American Blonde Ale is as smooth and refreshing as your vacation in paradise.
Cheers!
Crow’s Nest Steakhouse
If there was something the islands were lacking, it was a steakhouse with a panoramic sunset view. ‘Tween Waters Island Resort recently added the missing piece with the debut of the Crow’s Nest Steakhouse.
The only thing better than the food at this swanky eatery is the sunset view. Reservations required. We recommend you book now.

The Shipyard
The newest place for breakfast and dinner on the island is The Shipyard. This casual dining spot is also found at ‘Tween Waters Island Resort . Located next to Old Captiva House, it dropped anchor in the former home of Crow’s Nest Bar and Grille.
Old Captiva House breakfast fans can now find their morning favorites, including those life-changing blueberry pancakes, at The Shipyard.

‘Tween Waters Island Resort and Spa Improvements
If you haven’t guessed yet, ‘Tween Waters Island Resort is about to get a whole lot busier.
A signature beer and improved dining options – Crow’s Nest SEO and Shipyard SEO – are only a few of the changes to ‘Tween Waters.
Off Shore Sailing School is still operating out of the Tween Waters Marina.
This classic Captiva Island resort is undergoing a facelift with modern siding and already looks better than ever. The new look and restaurants make it even more of a vacation hub than it was before.
Book your stay now, it’ll fill up fast.
A Paved Andy Rosse Lane
This isn’t new in 2024 but most people missed it in 2023. Andy Rosse Lane is now paved all the way from Captiva Drive to the end of the road, where it meets The Mucky Duck.
Move Over Rum, It’s Whiskey’s Turn
Whiskey’s having its day in the sun and classic cocktails like the Old Fashioned are making a comeback on featured drink menus across the country, including the SanCap area.
At Crow’s Nest Steakhouse, you’ll find an impressive whiskey cocktail menu, including an old fashioned smoked tableside. Cielo on Sanibel Island is no different. If an old fashioned isn’t your thing, try a boulevardier (a negroni made with bourbon in place of gin).
Don’t worry rum fans! You can still find your favorite tiki drinks and rum punch just about anywhere in this tropical paradise.
The Islands Are Ready To Welcome You Back
All the charm you love about this island is still here. A little more than a year after the catastrophic hurricane, Captiva is already proving the comeback is greater than the setback.
